Give them a future, Give them education.
Mabul Island has been a fishing village since the 1970s. According to latest estimates, there are about 2,000 villagers living on Mabul. Half of them are children below the age of 14 who live a nomadic lifestyle with no access to state-sponsored education, healthcare and social services.
While we get to enjoy what the island and its surrounding waters have to offer, the children of Mabul may not be so lucky.
Join us on this special Mabul Children’s Welfare Initiative dive from 26 Nov – 1 Dec 2011 and help improve the future of the underprivileged children of Mabul. All profits from this dive package will be donated to the following charity organisations to assist in their efforts to help the underprivileged children of the island.
HOPE WORLDWIDE MALAYSIA
Established in 1996, HWM is a registered International Charity Organization with a branch in Kuala Lumpur. Their mission is to help the poor and needy through Health & Education. They will be running the MY Reading Program to teach the Bajau children English and the Deworming & Medical Check-up Program.
THE SCHOOL OF HOPE
Funded and built by Stanley Sie of Spheredivers Lodge & Tour on Mabul Island, the school serves as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged children. The school requires a full-time teacher that will work together with HWM to implement the MY Reading Program and funds for the general upkeep of the school building.
Founded by the Tham family, they help the children develop a positive learning attitude through the Saturday English Program, Room to READ & WRITE Program and MY Reading Program.
