Forum – Cave Diving

Caving has become one of the popular recreation and tourism in Malaysia either exploring wild cave or show cave. For wild cave exploration, awareness such as ethics, proper technique and equipment needed to maintain a sustainable karst systems for the future generations.

At this forum, visitors will get to hear a stories on cave exploration in Malaysia from all the experts.

Dr Azhar Hussin

Dr Azhar Hussin is a geologist with interest in regional geology, cave sedimentology and geomorphology. He has worked extensively in South East Asia, Greece and the Alpine mountain chain, Antarctica, South Africa and South America.


President, Malaysia Speleological Association (MASA)

Zainul Fikri is the founder and president of Malaysia Speleological Association (MASA) which involved in educational, exploration and conservation programs nationally and internationally.

He’s been actively exploring caves and karst area since 1999 and trained many cavers in Malaysia and Singapore.

Lee Kian Lie

Technical Cave Diver

Mr. Lee Kian Lie is a technical underwater cave explorer who has explored North West Malaysia, Ipoh, Kuantan and Sulawesi among many other locations. Currently, he is conducting cave explorations with his exploration team in Gua Kelam, Kinta Valley and Sg Lembing.

Mr. Lee and his team are also exploring abandoned underwater mines, locations of which remain undisclosed for safety reasons. Over the years, Mr. Lee has been a guest speaker of Bomba Malaysia, sharing his cave diving and exploration skills and experiences.
